One activation definition, written once

If three squads mean three different “activated” states, retention charts will never agree.

  • activation
  • metrics

Application analytics starts with the first meaningful action your product exists to enable—not session counts wrapped in a prettier colour.

Write activation as a behaviour with clear success criteria, then instrument that path end-to-end before arguing about north-star dashboards.

If activation is still vague, book a metrics alignment session before spending weeks on funnel tooling. Ambiguous success criteria produce charts nobody trusts.

Ask three people who activated last month why they stayed. That conversation usually beats a blank metric template.
